PANIC

Sheer panic. Not at the thought of welcoming a new daughter to the family, of how much our lives will all change, of all of the joy and challenges that we will experience together.

No, this panic is fully centered on the fact that I don't know how we'll pull it together and get out the door Saturday at noon.

Details aren't exactly my strong suit, and the next 41 hours are fraught with details!

Aughghgh!!!

Breathe. You're fine. You will be out the door Saturday at noon. And once you get on that plane you will close your eyes and realize that at that point, after all you have been through and all you have done, it is out of your control. You will be on your way and you will finally have some peace. And then you will have an incredible week in Rome, and then you will fly to Addis and Abebe will be there at the airport waiting for you. You probably won't sleep much that night, but the next morning you will go to Sele Enat and meet Hana and all of the wonderful people there, and you will hold Amelia for the first time. It will all go so smoothly you'll wonder why you were so stressed out. So save yourself the stress - you don't need it!

If you forget something it won't matter. You will make due. Amelia has lived the first 5 months of her life with very little, a few outfits, maybe one blanket, and a few bottles. That's it. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

I can't believe you're leaving tomorrow, I am so happy for you. PLEASE blog while you're there, I will be checking daily.

Stay strong, and tell Hana and Abebe and Hanna that we said hi.
