Well Baby

Amelia had her 12 month well baby check-up yesterday. She is still small, but she's comin' along. Here are her stats:
  • Weighs in at 16 pounds, 9 ounces (up 2 pounds, 5 ounces in the last 10 weeks)
  • Measures in at 28.5 inches

So, she's finally on the weight chart (3%) and she's at 25% on the height chart. (I can think of worse things than being tall and thin.)

I think she has recently lost a bit of weight because:

  • she has decided she's "done" with baby food, and
  • she's not too interested in bottles and not yet interested enough in milk, and
  • she's so darn active, she burns calories like a mad woman.

The good news is, she is progressing nicely, and she's right where we hope she would be developmentally. Yea!

Yabeserra hates milk, too! I have discovered that the only way she will drink it is if I mix in a little bit of fruit-flavored organic kefir (liquidy yogurt). Honey and chocolate sauce don't work for her. She also gets a lot of whole milk yogurt mixed in with yogurt, applesauce, etc...have you tried boiled egg yolks and avacadoes?

Wow, she's made such great progress; she was such a tiny little baby! Glad she's finally on the charts!

HI, my name is Melissa and I live in Alaska. I met a gal in Oct of 08 who adopted a girl from Ethiopia in March and was convinced this is something that I had wanted to do for quite some time now. I came home and told my husband we need to pray about this and see where it takes us. I still feel strongly about it and ready to start the process. However, I am really nervous about the whole thing. I am a mother of 3 healthy beautiful boys and I long for the day to receive a healthy beautiful daughter via Ethiopia. Can you give me some tips on how you got started and what your home study consisted of? Amelia is gorgeous and fits into your family beautifully!
